51 special persons in Sialkot to get electric tricycles, wheelchairs

SIALKOT, Jul 07 (APP):On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, for the first time in Punjab, battery-operated electric tricycles and wheelchairs are being provided to special people and the facility is being provided to 51 special people in Sialkot district, after which they will be able to carry out their daily chores in a better way.
This was stated by Deputy Director (DD) Social Welfare Sharif Ghuman in a departmental meeting.
DD Social Welfare Sharif Ghuman said that for the first time under the administration of the Social Welfare Department Sialkot, 26 special people will be provided with electric tricycles and 25 special people with electric wheelchairs and no quota has been allocated for this. Rather, the same number of special people in Sialkot district were found eligible for this facility as per the prescribed procedure.
He said that electric tricycles and wheelchairs will be handed over to special people this month.
Sharif Ghuman said that special people can apply for equipment or rides according to their needs on the online portal of the Punjab government before appearing to the district-level Need Assessment Committee in which senior doctors of DHQ Hospital determine their physical disability and issue a certificate.
He said that this committee determines whether the special people are eligible to use this facility or not.
The DD Social Welfare said that the Punjab government has also provided Himmat Cards to special people, which has provided protection to special people and made them confident.
He said that the procedure for providing all the facilities is very transparent and the self-respect of special people is also taken care of in the provision of these facilities.
