GUJRAT, Jan 02 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) authorities carried out extensive food safety operations across the district in 2025, inspected 27,729 food points and issued improvement notices to 9,407 of them.
The drive was supervised by PFA Deputy Director Rizwan Saeed. Fines totaling Rs. 261 million were imposed in 2,532 cases, 51 businesses were sealed, and 49 FIRs registered, according to a spokesperson here on Friday.
During the year, 419 food samples were collected and 3,904 new food businesses registered.
Enforcement actions included discarding 5,215 kg of substandard food, 16,097 litres of milk, 1,100 kg of meat, and 4,584 litres of beverages. Major crackdowns targeted a fake dry milk network, where 36 tonnes of counterfeit powder and machinery were seized and an FIR registered.
Separate actions led to the discarding of 14,000 litres of adulterated milk, 1,000 kg of rotten meat, and 3,200 litres of fake beverages.
