MULTAN, Jul 13 (APP):The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) South Zone Punjab has permanently blocked 508 retailer devices and registered 22 FIRs during a recent crackdown on unauthorized deductions and embezzlement in the quarter 4 (April–June) tranche for the financial year 2024–25.
According to BISP officials, field teams conducted rigorous inspections and beneficiary verifications across districts of South Punjab, leading to firm action against corrupt elements. Law enforcement agencies have so far arrested 23 individuals involved in illegal deductions and financial malpractice.
Zonal Director South Zone Punjab, Sayema Bashir, said that the measures reflect BISP’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and protection of payments meant for marginalized families. She added that monitoring teams are actively present in the field to oversee the disbursement process, ensure strict compliance and respond swiftly to complaints.
She urged beneficiaries to immediately report any unauthorized deductions or misconduct through the BISP helpline (0800-26477) or by visiting the nearest BISP office.
Sayema Bashir reiterated that no deductions from the grants of poor families will be tolerated under any circumstances and that the Programme remains dedicated to delivering full payments to deserving families with dignity.
