50-kg expired items, china salt wasted

MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 18 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) destroyed 7,500 sachets of China salt and 50 kilograms of expired food items during an inspection drive conducted on Tuesday.
The authority also imposed fines totaling Rs165,000 on four shopkeepers for selling banned and expired food products, while two other units were issued warning notices over hygiene violations.
According to officials, operations were carried out in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, Mohalla Islampura and Kot Addu, where inspection teams visited bakeries, general stores and various food outlets.
Inspectors also reported finding rusted storage utensils and poor hygienic conditions
at several locations.
The PFA director general reiterated that the sale and purchase of China salt is strictly banned across Punjab and warned that action will continue against anyone found stocking prohibited items.
