PESHAWAR, Jun 22 (APP):An earthquake measuring 5.4 on International Richter scale on Monday jolted Peshawar and it’s surrounding areas around 03:16 p.m., causing panic among residents.
The tremors were also felt in Jamrud and Landi Kotal areas of Khyber district where residents were alarmed by the earthquake and gathered in open spaces.
According to preliminary reports, the earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 215 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range near Afghanistan, a region known for frequent seismic activity.
No immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received. Authorities are monitoring the situation and assessing any potential impact.
