FAISALABAD, Nov 21 (APP):The Punjab government has strengthened its farmer-support agenda under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Green Tractors Scheme (Phase-II) and allocated 419 modern tractors for district Faisalabad as part of 1,207 tractors earmarked for the entire division.
In the first batch, 52 tractors were handed over to successful farmers at Agriculture Extension Office with a subsidy of Rs.1 million on each.
Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, MNA Chaudhary Shehbaz Babar, MPA Chaudhary Arif Mahmood Gill and former MPA Dr. Najma Afzal distributed the tractor keys among the farmers and addressed the gathering. Director Agriculture Extension Chaudhary Khalid Mahmood and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, divisional commissioner and lawmakers said that the tractors were allotted through a transparent balloting process which reflected the government’s commitment to fairness and accessibility.
They said that provision of modern agricultural machinery is playing a pivotal role in boosting crop yields, reducing production costs and improving the financial wellbeing of farmers across the region.
They said that Punjab’s farmer-friendly initiatives are proving effective in strengthening the agricultural economy. Under Chief Minister’s Agricultural Internship Program, 2,000 agricultural graduates are currently serving as interns to provide technical guidance to the farmers in the field, they added.
They said that the government has distributed 5,000 super seeders enabling mechanical disposal of crop residues for combating smog and promoting sustainable farming practices.
Wheat cultivation targets across Faisalabad division are also nearing completion as the province pushes forward with comprehensive reforms for enhancing productivity and resilience in the agriculture sector, they added.
