308 raids conducted on drug-traffickers hideouts in single day

LAHORE, Jul 24 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said on Wednesday that in one day, 308 raids were conducted on drug-traffickers’ hideouts across the province, including Lahore.
As a result, 153 suspects were arrested, and 150 cases were registered. The operations led to seizure of 110 kilograms of charas, three kilograms of heroin, and 1,327 litres of liquor from suspects’ possession.
The IGP said that since the special campaign began on February 26, police teams had conducted 37,550 raids on drug-dealers’ hideouts across Punjab. As a result, 17,933 accused involved in drug trafficking were arrested, and 17,431 cases were registered. Seized from the suspects’ possession were 10,518 kilograms of charas, 56 kilograms of Ice, 190 kilograms of heroin, 276 kilograms of opium, and 1.7 million liters of alcohol. He directed to further intensify the intelligence-based operations against drug dealers and smugglers. He Punjab said that RPOs, DPOs should personally monitor the anti-narcotics operations.
IG Punjab directed that regular search and combing operations should be continued in hotspot areas and indiscriminate action should be taken against the accused involved in drug supply in educational institutions. He said that the accused involved in inter-provincial trafficking should be brought under the grip of the law and severely punished.
