ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP):Islamabad’s district administration intensi fied its anti-dengue campaign as 30 new dengue cases were reported in the last 24 hours while, more than 3,400 locations across the capital were fumigated, and over 42,000 preventive actions have been carried out under the ongoing operation, according to the latest district report.
The report stated that 18 of the new dengue cases were detected in rural areas, while 12 cases emerged from urban localities. At present, 75 patients are receiving treatment for dengue fever in various hospitals across the city.
Health teams conducted larva inspections at multiple locations, finding positive results at 719 sites, while 31 sites tested negative. In response, the district administration directed field teams to accelerate fumigation and spraying operations, especially in high-risk zones where larva presence was confirmed.
To ensure strict implementation of dengue prevention guidelines, the administration also took enforcement actions. Several premises were sealed, and multiple arrests were made for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs). Officials reiterated that negligence toward anti-dengue measures will not be tolerated.
In the last 24 hours alone, over 3,400 locations—including schools, mosques, residential colonies, and open drains—were fumigated. These measures are part of a larger strategy to control mosquito breeding and minimize the risk of new cases.
Since the beginning of the campaign, more than 42,000 preventive actions have been completed, including the removal of stagnant water, cleaning of drains, larva detection surveys, and public awareness activities. The administration emphasized that public cooperation remains critical to the success of the campaign.
A spokesperson for the district administration said that while the number of cases remains under control, continuous efforts are needed to prevent a rise in infections. “We are focusing on both preventive and responsive actions to ensure that dengue does not spread further,” the spokesperson added.
The administration appealed to citizens to follow anti-dengue SOPs, keep their surroundings clean, and ensure that water containers are properly covered. It urged residents to immediately report any suspected breeding sites or violations of preventive guidelines to local authorities.
The district teams have also been instructed to maintain daily monitoring and coordinate with health departments to track emerging hotspots. Regular field inspections, data collection, and community engagement will continue as part of Islamabad’s ongoing dengue control strategy.
Officials concluded that the anti-dengue campaign would continue with full pace until complete control over mosquito breeding sites is achieved. Public awareness, active participation, and timely reporting by citizens were termed essential to make Islamabad a dengue-free city.
