3-member car lifters gang held; ICT Police recover five stolen vehicles worth Rs 4 mln

ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP):The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested three members of an organised car lifters gang and recovered five stolen vehicles worth rupees four million during a successful operation in the federal capital.
An official told APP on Thursday that the arrested gang members, identified as Nauman Rashid, Muhammad Irfan, and Fakhar Alam, had previous criminal records and were involved in more than eight car theft cases.
During initial investigation, the accused confessed to their involvement in multiple car theft incidents in different areas of the capital.
The official said the suspects were wanted by Aabpara, Margalla, Shahzad Town and Industrial Area police stations in several cases of vehicle theft.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said the organised gang was arrested through an effective strategy adopted by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit.
He said Islamabad Police would continue indiscriminate action against active car lifter gangs.
The DIG reiterated that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost priority of Islamabad Police.
