LODHRAN, Jul 10 (APP):Twenty-nine farmers from Lodhran have received free green tractors under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship “Grow More Wheat” initiative.
A grand distribution ceremony was held at the District Council Hall, organised by the Agriculture Department.
The event was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Shazia Hayatullah Tareen as the chief guest, with Assistant Commissioner Lodhran Iram Shehzadi presiding over the session. The ceremony saw the participation of PML-N District President Sheikh Iftikharuddin Tari, former MPA Shah Muhammad Joiya, Director Agriculture Extension Multan division Shehzad Sabir, Deputy Director Agriculture Lodhran Muhammad Zafar Malik, progressive farmer Kashif Islam, and a large number of agricultural officers and farmers.
In her address, MPA Shazia Tareen highlighted that agriculture remained at the forefront of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s development agenda. She stated that modern agricultural machinery was being provided to farmers across the province to ensure higher crop yields and promote sustainable farming.
“A total of over Rs. 60 million worth of 55-horsepower green tractors were being distributed free of cost to eligible farmers in Lodhran,” she added.
Former MPA Shah Muhammad Joiya praised the initiative, calling it a farmer-friendly and visionary step by the Chief Minister. “The distribution was carried out through a transparent computerized balloting process,” he said.
Assistant Commissioner Iram Shehzadi informed that over 1,000 farmers applied for the program, of which 660 met the eligibility criteria. From these, 29 lucky farmers were selected through a fair and transparent balloting draw.
Director Agriculture Extension Multan division Shehzad Sabir noted that each tractor has a market value of approximately Rs. 2.1 million.
