ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Islamabad’s district administration has intensified anti-dengue measures, reporting 25 new cases in the past 24 hours while health teams inspected 43,863 sites across the city, carried out spraying in 1,565 residential areas, and conducted fogging at 2,273 locations to eliminate dengue larvae.
According to the district dengue surveillance report, 25 new dengue cases were reported in the federal capital during the last 24 hours. Among these, 14 patients were from rural zones and 11 from urban areas. The number of dengue patients under treatment in various hospitals has reached 59.
The administration stated that special field teams are conducting detailed inspections to trace dengue larvae in high-risk sectors. During the latest inspections, larvae were found positive at 492 locations, while 5 sites were cleared after negative results.
To control the spread of dengue, the administration carried out spraying operations in 1,565 residential areas and fogging drives in 2,273 localities. The district teams also continued their door-to-door inspections to identify potential breeding sites and ensure compliance with preventive measures.
Officials said the administration is taking strict action against those violating dengue prevention guidelines. Several sites were sealed, and multiple individuals were detained for failing to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad directed field officers to accelerate daily anti-dengue operations, especially in high-risk and densely populated zones. Teams were instructed to focus on stagnant water spots, under-construction buildings, and garbage disposal areas that could serve as mosquito breeding grounds.
The administration further emphasized the need for public cooperation in ongoing anti-dengue efforts. Officials stated that complete control over dengue cannot be achieved without community participation. Citizens have been urged to keep their surroundings clean, remove standing water, and report suspected dengue sites to the authorities.
Health experts working with the administration are also monitoring hospitals and private clinics to track new cases. Coordination between the health department and district administration is being maintained to ensure early detection and response.
The district control room continues to receive daily updates from all sectors and medical facilities. Field teams are sharing data in real-time to identify emerging hotspots and deploy rapid response units.
The administration added that dengue prevention and elimination drives will continue without interruption until the disease is completely eradicated from the federal capital. Public awareness activities are also being organized in schools, mosques, and community centers to educate residents on preventive practices.
Furthermore, the health department has appealed to citizens to use mosquito repellents, wear full-sleeve clothing, and ensure that water tanks and coolers are properly covered. The department has also set up helplines to assist residents in reporting potential dengue sites or seeking medical advice.
The ongoing campaign is part of the Islamabad administration’s comprehensive dengue control plan, which includes regular inspections, strict enforcement of SOPs, and community engagement. Officials reiterated that the daily surveillance and control operations will remain in place until the city is declared dengue-free.
