RAWALPINDI, Nov 03 (APP):In a major operation against wheat and flour smuggling, Rawalpindi Police in collaboration with the Food Department registered 21 cases and arrested 21 suspects involved in smuggling here on Monday.
A total of 291 tons of flour and 28 tons of wheat were recovered during the crackdown, while vehicles used for transportation of the smuggled goods were also impounded.
According to police spokesman, the operations were conducted in the areas of Chakri, Taxila, Saddar Wah, and Airport.
Special monitoring measures have been implemented across all entry and exit points of the city, where surveillance cameras have been installed to ensure round-the-clock monitoring.
In addition, eight special check posts have been set up to curb the illegal movement of wheat and flour.
Strict legal action is being taken against those involved in smuggling and that no one will be allowed to exploit essential commodities. The ongoing operations are being conducted in line with the directives of the Government of Punjab to ensure effective prevention of wheat and flour smuggling and to maintain an uninterrupted supply for citizens, the spokesman added.
