ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP):In the past 24 hours, the Islamabad district administration carried out anti-dengue fumigation at 2,097 sites, reported 29 new cases, and arrested 38 individuals for violating dengue prevention guidelines.
The administration has so far achieved 33,706 anti-dengue operations across the city under its ongoing campaign.
According to the spokesman of Islamabad district administration, the authority has intensified its crackdown against dengue following a rise in reported cases across the city.
According to official data, 29 new dengue cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, with 17 patients admitted to various hospitals for treatment.
To prevent further spread of the virus, the administration completed fumigation at 2,097 locations in different parts of the city. Officials confirmed that dengue larvae were found at 706 sites during inspections, where immediate fumigation and monitoring were carried out.
Overall, the administration has achieved its target of 33,706 anti-dengue activities under its ongoing operation, which includes fumigation, site inspections, and public awareness drives. Authorities said these actions are part of a coordinated effort to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
During inspections, 38 people were arrested for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued to prevent dengue breeding. These violations included improper water storage, stagnant water accumulation, and negligence in maintaining clean surroundings.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad directed teams to enforce dengue SOPs across all urban and rural areas without exception. He warned that individuals found responsible for breeding sites would face legal action.
“The administration is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against violations of dengue SOPs,” the DC said, instructing field teams to continue inspections and take strict measures where needed.
Fumigation and larva monitoring are being conducted in all areas where positive dengue cases have been reported. Health teams are also carrying out door-to-door visits to ensure residents follow safety measures such as covering water containers, cleaning rooftops, and removing standing water.
The administration urged citizens to cooperate with inspection teams and immediately report any suspected dengue larvae to the control room. Officials said community participation is key to reducing dengue cases and keeping the city safe.
As part of the awareness campaign, teams are distributing leaflets and engaging with residents to highlight preventive steps. Schools, offices, and public buildings are also being checked regularly to eliminate potential breeding sites.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing these preventive measures until the risk of dengue subsides. The district administration has called on all departments to ensure full compliance with the DC’s directives and maintain vigilance against any violation of anti-dengue protocols.
With a growing number of reported cases, the district administration is working around the clock to identify high-risk areas and respond quickly through targeted fumigation and health surveillance. The ongoing campaign will continue until dengue is fully controlled across the capital.
