LAHORE, Jan 07 (APP):Twenty people were killed and 1,191 others injured in 1,019 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to a report, issued by the Punjab Emergency Service (PES), commonly known as Rescue-1122, here on Wednesday.
As many as 491 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 700 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams. The data analysis showed that 669 drivers, 42 underage drivers, 150 pedestrians and 392 passengers were among the victims of road crashes.
The statistics showed that 214 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 252 people, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 78 accidents and 98 victims, and at third Multan with 59 accidents and 62 victims. According to the data, 1,033 motorcycles, 68 rickshaws, 129 cars, 25 vans, 14 passenger buses, 35 trucks and 96 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road accidents.
