WAH CANTT, Jul 09 (APP):At least 17 people on Wednesday were injured when a passenger coaster skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine near Sangjani area on Motorway M-1 due to slippery conditions caused by rain.
According to Rescue 1122, the incident took place between Brahma and Sangjani in the limits of Taxila Police station when the vehicle lost control during rainfall and fell into a ditch.
The Rescue teams reached the site promptly and administered first aid to the injured passengers.
The authorities confirmed that six of the injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, while five others were taken to Wah General Hospital. The remaining victims received on-site treatment.
The preliminary investigations suggested the accident was caused by the slippery road surface due to rain. The relevant authorities have launched a formal inquiry into the incident.
