165 couples tie the knot under CM’s “Dhee Rani Program” in Gujranwala

LAHORE, Oct 21 (APP):A total of 165 deserving couples from District Gujranwala tied the knot in a grand collective marriage ceremony held under the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Dhee Rani Program.”
The ceremony, organized at Eden Garden Banquet, Gakkhar, was attended by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mal Sohail Shaukat Butt as the chief guest, said a handout issued here on Tuesday.
Each newlywed couple received Rs. 200,000 in cash assistance and a bridal dress as a gift from the Chief Minister Punjab. Under this initiative, more than 5,000 marriages will be solemnized across the province this year to support underprivileged families.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt said that 17 Christian couples were also among the beneficiaries, reflecting the government’s commitment to interfaith harmony and inclusivity. He termed the Dhee Rani Program a historic step toward empowering low-income families and promoting social justice in Punjab.
The Minister added that Allah Almighty has chosen Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for a great humanitarian mission, as her leadership continues to bring comfort and hope to thousands of families.
The event was attended by Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, Secretary Social Welfare Punjab Javed Akhtar Mahmood, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, and senior officials of the Social Welfare Department.
The newlywed couples and their families expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Provincial Minister Sohail Shaukat Butt for organizing the memorable ceremony and fulfilling the dreams of many deserving daughters across Punjab.
