PESHAWAR, Jul 23 (APP): District administration retrieved 158 kanal land by removing encroachments in Regi locality and handed it over to the contractor of Peshawar Northern Bypass Project (PNBP) to ensure its timely completion.
According to spokesman of the district administration, the progress was made due to efforts of the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Hassan Khel, who held negotiations with the locals.
These negotiations helped in making the correct demarcation of land possible and obtained the consent of the local community to prevent any kind of resistance.
Encroachments on the demarcated land were demolished by using heavy machinery and all hurdles were removed to clear it for construction purpose. Project Director PNBP, Deputy Director Land, officials of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Revenue Department were present on the occasion of the operation and the process of the formal hand of the land were completed in their presence.
The progress made in this regard, is considered of high importance for the early completion of the Northern Bypass Project and rural development. The completion of the project will not only lessen the burden of heavy traffic on interior and exterior parts of the city and the rural population will also get a better mean of communication.
District administration has appealed the people to extend full cooperation to the government in the implementation of uplift projects and avoid erecting encroachments. So, Peshawar could be turned into a modern, organized and secured city.
