ISLAMABAD, Dec 10 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 13 kite flyers and sellers during a large-scale operation against kite flying, recovering a significant stock of kites and metal string in various areas of the federal capital.

An official told APP on Tuesday that police teams conducted coordinated raids across multiple police station limits, arresting 13 individuals involved in kite flying and the sale of banned material. A heavy quantity of kites and dangerous metal string (manja) was seized, and cases have been registered in relevant police stations.

The official added that the crackdown has been intensified as part of ICT Police’s efforts to curb the dangerous activity, which has previously resulted in injuries and loss of innocent lives.

SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said kite flying is a deadly and illegal activity, and strict action will continue against those involved in its sale or use. He urged parents to educate their children about the hazards and legal consequences of kite flying.
He said announcements had also been made through mosques across different police station jurisdictions to warn citizens about the dangers of metal string and kite flying. “Even a single metal string can cause lifelong disability or death. This blood-sport will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.
The SSP reaffirmed that ICT Police will continue firm action against violators, adding that protecting citizens’ lives and property is the top priority of Islamabad Police.
