LODHRAN, Jun 17 (APP):A ceremony of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Main Digital” program was held in Lodhran. Provincial Minister for Communication, Works, and Law, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, attended as the chief guest.
Chairman of Chief Minister’s Task Force for Skill Development, Adnan Afzal Chatha, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir, and DPO Ali bin Tariq also participated.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was empowering the daughters of the province, and Lodhran holds a unique place in Punjab’s history compared to other districts. He highlighted that Lodhran was no longer underdeveloped as it once was, thanks to a Rs40 million grant provided by the Chief Minister.
He paid tribute to girls who passed the exam and qualified for desktops and emphasized that the Chief Minister rejected all recommendations and upheld merit. “When our daughters are capable, future generations will be talented,” he said. Bharth said that Lodhran was the fifth district in Punjab where the program has been launched under PSDF, following its launch in four other districts. Each girl is being given a desktop worth Rs 250,000 including a UPS facility as part of the system.
He shared that only 13pc of women in Pakistan are part of the workforce, and 67 percent of women do not go beyond primary education. The country’s population consists of 64 percent youths, with 34 percent of the population using the internet. Pakistan ranks fourth globally in terms of freelancer users, he added.
Under this program, women will receive six months of training, the first six weeks of which will focus on learning to speak, read, and write English. They will also be introduced to computer technology and its applications, he maintained.
The provincial minister remarked that it was an honor for the daughters of Punjab that their Chief Minister is a courageous woman who grants awards based on merit and capability. Mastery of the English language is essential for success in the international market, and soon the daughters of Lodhran will make their parents proud in Punjab, Pakistan, and across the world.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir expressed her happiness that the Chief Minister was empowering the daughters of Lodhran by fulfilling their dreams through the distribution of desktops to 124 girls.
