MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 22 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its action against the adulteration mafia as 1,200 litres of substandard milk was discarded during an operation in Ali Pur tehsil on Monday.
According to the PFA spokesperson, the dairy safety team, led by the Director Operations Food Authority South Punjab, set up a checkpoint at Head Panjnad. A milk-carrying vehicle was stopped during the blockade, and samples taken from the milk failed quality tests. Officials found low fat content and a lack of natural nutrients, rendering the milk unfit for human consumption.
Director General Food Authority South Punjab said, in a statement ,that the entire 1,200 litres of adulterated milk was destroyed on the spot. Cases were registered against the suppliers, and two accused were arrested.
He stated that checkpoints were being established to ensure the supply of adulteration-free milk to the public.
He also informed citizens that milk used in households can be tested free of cost at any Punjab Food Authority office.
