BAHAWALPUR, Jul 18 (APP): At least 10 passengers have suffered critical wounds as their passenger coach turned turtle and caught fire in the Musafir Khana area of Bahawalpur district.
The police and rescue sources said that a high-roof coach carrying passengers was on its way from Sadique Abad to Bahawalpur when it turned turtle near a gasoline station on the Karachi-Lahore national highway in Musafir Khana area in the suburb of Bahawalpur.
“As a result of the accident, 10 passengers sustained serious injuries.”
The official sources in the Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 said that they received an emergency phone call for seeking rescue at 08:28 am. A Bahawalpur-bound high-roof passenger coach overturned near Musa Wala Pump near Musafir Khan town which later, caught fire, they said.
They further said that ambulances and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene which shifted the injured to hospital.
The condition of the two injured was serious.
According to a primary investigation report conducted by the local police, a tire of the vehicle was separated from the
vehicle when it was plying on the road resulting in the overturn of the coach. However, further probe was underway.
