Pakistan’s flag unfurls globally as diplomatic missions celebrate Independence Day

The Independence Day gatherings brought together a diverse cross-section of attendees, including prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora, host country officials, foreign diplomats, media representatives, and embassy staff along with their families.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): Pakistani diplomatic missions across the globe celebrated the nation’s Independence Day with traditional fervor and patriotic passion, hosting vibrant ceremonies across embassies, high commissions, and consulates in capitals worldwide.

The day’s proceedings commenced with dignified flag-hoisting ceremonies led by Pakistan’s envoys, accompanied by the playing of the national anthem.

As the green and white national flag unfurled in the missions, the gatherings resonated with patriotic fervor as national songs were played, paying homage to the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers.

During the events, special messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out to the gatherings.

The gatherings brought together a diverse cross-section of attendees, including prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora, host country officials, foreign diplomats, media representatives, and embassy staff along with their families.

INDIA

The High Commission of Pakistan in New Delhi celebrated the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan with tradition zeal and fervor.

Chargé d’ Affaires of Pakistan to India Saad Ahmad Warraich hoisted the national flag in an impressive ceremony. Members of the High Commission and their families attended the event.

In his remarks, the Charge d’ Affaires said that the creation of Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was not merely a triumph of the deep-seated and abiding conviction of the Muslims of the subcontinent to chart a future of their own, it was also a fulfillment of their ordained destiny to achieve a separate homeland. Over the years, Pakistan has made great strides across all spheres of life.

Warraich said that Pakistan’s nuclear capability was a stabilizing factor in South Asia.He said that the Marka-e-Haq stands testimony to our unswerving resolve to protect and preserve the nation’s sovereignty and the dignity of our people. Paying homage to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, the Chargé d’ Affaires also lauded the role of the Pakistan armed forces in national defence.

Dressed in traditional attire, children performed national songs and delivered speeches, highlighting the historic struggle for the creation of Pakistan.A special cake was also cut on this auspicious occasion.

Saad Ahmad Warraich also inaugurated a photo exhibition depicting the life, vision, and historic struggle of Quaid-i-Azam, especially curated to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the nation’s founder, this year.

AFGHANISTAN

The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul commemorated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Anniversary at a dignified flag hoisting ceremony.

Ambassador Ubaid Ur Rehman Nizamani hoisted the Pakistani flag. In his remarks, the ambassador reaffirmed the vision outlined in the leadership’s messages and recalled the unparalleled struggle of the founding forefathers that had led to the emergence of an independent homeland.

Recalling the courage and commitment of the country’s security forces in the face of internal and external threats, the Ambassador reaffirmed the nation’s firm resolve in overcoming these challenges. He also underscored Pakistan’s stabilizing role in promoting global peace, stability and regional cooperation.

The event brought together Pakistanis working at various UN agencies and other international organizations, professionals and students in Afghanistan.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi organized a flag hoisting ceremony at its premises to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan with national zeal and enthusiasm.

A large number of Pakistani community members along with their families attended the event.

Ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates Shafqat Ali Khan hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan urged the community members to continue playing their constructive role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Referring to the role of Pakistani community in the UAE, the ambassador appreciated their contribution in the development of the UAE as well as their support to the national economy through their hard-earned remittances; and serving as a bridge between the two brotherlynations.

The ambassador thanked the Government of the UAE for its longstanding hospitality towards more than 2.2 million Pakistanis and for the care and support extended to the community in almost every aspect of their lives, besides appealing the community to pay due reverence to the local laws and be a law-abiding citizens of the UAE.

During the ceremony, children from Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Arab Pakistan School sang patriotic songs with enthusiasm. The children also joined the Ambassador in Independence Day Cake Cutting.

DUBAI

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony attended by a large number of Pakistani community members, officers and officials of the Consulate, and other guests.

Addressing the gathering, Fawad Ali Khan, Acting Consul General of Pakistan, extended heartfelt felicitations to the Pakistani community on the occasion of Independence Day. He said that 14 August was not merely a date in the national calendar, but a symbol of freedom, sacrifice, determination and national identity.

He paid rich tribute to the historic struggle and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that the Quaid had not only given the nation an independent homeland but had also provided a vision and direction based on the principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline.

Khan appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani community in the UAE, noting that Pakistanis were contributing not only to the development of the UAE but also to Pakistan’s economy and the welfare of their families back home.

The Acting Consul General also toured the art exhibition organized at the Consulate General in collaboration with Parallel Palette, featuring works by Pakistani artists inspired by the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and their love for Pakistan. The exhibition was arranged to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as part of the Government of Pakistan’s observance of 2026 as the “Year of Quaid-e-Azam.”

AUSTRALIA

A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Irfan Shaukat underscored the historic importance of Pakistan’s Independence Day. He paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the nation and reaffirmed their vision for a sovereign, democratic, and progressive Pakistan.
Describing Pakistani diaspora as one of the country’s greatest national assets, the High Commissioner commended its outstanding achievements and the goodwill it has generated for Pakistan across Australia. He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of overseas Pakistanis towards
Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
A large number of members of the Pakistani community, and friends of Pakistan attended the flag-hoisting ceremony.

FRANCE

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch hoisted national flag to the tune of the national anthem at the Embassy of Pakistan, Paris and welcomed distinguished members of the Pakistani community including large number of children.

Congratulating all on the Independence Day, the Ambassador said that 14th August was truly auspicious as it brought together the entire nation – in celebration, in paying homage to the Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders of the freedom movement, in remembrance of the supreme sacrifices of our forefathers and drawing inspiration from our glorious past and the tremendous achievements over the decades.

Ambassador Baloch said that as we celebrate our freedom we should remember our Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers and sisters, who have been struggling for over seven decades for their freedom and right to self-determination. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s political and diplomatic support to the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine for their legitimate rights.

Ambassador also appreciated the contributions of Pakistani diaspora in France in promoting Pakistan-France relations. She reiterated Embassy’s fully commitment to continue to facilitate Pakistanis based in France.

Later, she inaugurated the ‘historic photo exhibition’ based on the life and works of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at the Embassy. The exhibition showcased a remarkable collection of archival records and photographs chronicling the visionary leadership and enduring
legacy of the founder of Pakistan.

JAPAN

The Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo commemorated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Anniversary today with a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony, bringing together the Pakistani community and friends of Pakistan in a celebration of freedom, unity and national purpose.

Ambassador Abdul Hameed hoisted the national flag as the national anthem was played.

In his remarks, the Ambassador extended warm felicitations to Pakistanis in Japan and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to serving the community and deepening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Japan.

The gathering brought together members of the Pakistani community, Embassy officials and Japanese friends of Pakistan, reflecting both the spirit of independence and the bonds that connect Pakistanis abroad with their homeland.

SAUDI ARABIA

On Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day, a graceful flag hoisting ceremony was held at the state of the art Chancery building of Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah. Consul General of Pakistan Syed Mustafa Rabbani led the ceremony, joined by a large Pakistani community who witnessed with great pride and honour as the national flag rose in the backlight of the national anthem.

Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the day, and payed tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan. He highlighted country’s achievements in various fields including diplomacy and dialogue to facilitate peace and stability in the region and beyond.

He further highlighted that Makkah Joint Defense Agreement further strengthens cooperation and collective defense and growing strategic confidence and partnership between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. People of Pakistan are grateful to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia for their continued support for Pakistan.

He also expressed his deep admiration for the Pakistani community living in Jeddah and their contribution towards promoting the economic development of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and brotherly relation between the two countries.

A pictorial exhibition of Quaid-e-Azam, Father of Nation was inaugurated and opened for public. Exhibition is carrying almost 100 historical pictures covering various aspects and phases of Quaid-e-Azam’s life and Pakistan movement.

IRAN

A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House, Tehran which was attended by Pakistani diaspora. Addressing the audience, Ambassador of Pakistan to Iran Imran Ahmed Siddiqui congratulated Pakistani community members and thanked them for participating in the celebrations.

He emphasized on their contributions and efforts in socio economic shares of Iran and promotion of bilateral relations.

He referred to the determination of both governments to enhance the trade volume upto 10 billion dollars for which the Pakistani community is a great stakeholder.

The children of Pakistan Embassy International School & College, Tehran presented a national song. A collective prayer was also offered for all those who laid their lives to get this homeland. In the end a cake was also cut to celebrate Independence Day.

SINGAPORE

A flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House, Singapore, to celebrate the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan. Members of the Pakistani community, officials of the High Commission of Pakistan, and their families attended the ceremony.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore Rabia Shafiq hoisted the national flag to the tune of the National Anthem.

In her remarks, the High Commissioner said that Pakistanis were celebrating Independence Day across the world with renewed commitment to the ideals of freedom, unity, and national progress.

She paid rich tribute to the struggle and visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose leadership culminated in the creation of Pakistan. She noted that the Government of Pakistan is observing the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah this year through a range of commemorative activities.

The High Commissioner highlighted the resilience of the Pakistani nation and underscored Pakistan’s continued role as an advocate and interlocutor for peace in the region and beyond. She also congratulated the nation on the landmark ‘Makkah Joint Defence Agreement’ which reaffirms Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen cooperation in addressing the evolving peace and security challenges facing our region. She reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to play its role in promoting peace, stability, and cooperation at the regional and global levels.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for global peace and for the security, stability, and economic prosperity of Pakistan, in accordance with the vision and ideals of the country’s founding fathers.

UNITED KINGDOM

Pakistan High Commission, London celebrated 80th Independence Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm. Chairman Kashmir Committee, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon attended the ceremony as guest-of-honour of the ceremony that was attended by a large number of  members of the Pakistani community, friends of Pakistan, media personnel, and the officials of Pakistan High Commission with families.
High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK, Tipu Usman hoisted Pakistan flag to the tune of national anthem.

In his address, he commemorated the vision and sacrifices of the nation’s founders. He paid tributes to Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership and the courage of all the men and women whose unwavering solidarity, struggle and resilience made independence of Pakistan possible.
The high commissioner reiterated that Pakistani diaspora in UK are the real ambassadors and appreciated their hard work, dedication & passion who are playing an important role in bridging Pakistan and the UK. Tipu Usman reaffirmed Pakistan’s moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in their just struggle for the right to self determination as per UN Security Council resolutions.
National songs, music performances by British-Pakistani Soprano Ms. Saira Peter and participation of children made the Independence Day celebrations more zealous and vibrant. Later, the High Commissioner, along with guests performed cake cutting to celebrate Independence Day of Pakistan.

GERMANY

The Independence Day ceremony hosted by Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin started with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the unfurling of the national flag by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany Saqlain Syedah. The national anthems of Pakistan and Germany were played at the ceremony.

In her address, Ambassador Saqlain Syedah extended her heartfelt congratulations to the participating Pakistanis, German dignitaries, and friends of Pakistan. Emphasizing the sanctity and significance of Independence Day, she stated that freedom is a sacred trust achieved through the vision and sacrifices of our forefathers under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.

Highlighting Pakistan’s major achievements in recent years, the Ambassador noted the country’s economic stability, its growing standing in green energy and climate justice, and the significantly expanding potential of the IT and technology sector led by Pakistan’s youth.

She highlighted that this year’s celebrations carry special historical significance as Pakistan commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, adding that by adhering to the Quaid’s golden principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline, we can march toward further progress.

A major highlight of the event was the honoring of Dr. Senta Maria Anna Siller in recognition of her humanitarian services, rural women’s empowerment, and significant contributions to community development in Pakistan.

The event concluded with the cutting of the Independence Day cake, a live musical performance by a Pakistani artist, and traditional Pakistani refreshments. The ceremony was attended by a large number of the Pakistani diaspora, German officials, diplomats, and well-wishers of Pakistan.

OMAN

The Embassy of Pakistan organized a flag hoisting ceremony in the Chancery which was attended by a large number of Pakistani community members.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador congratulated the Pakistani community on the Independence Day. He said that this year, the entire nation is celebrating the Independence Day with a special sense of pride.

“Over the past one and a half year, we have not only achieved a glorious victory in the battle field but have also become a pivotal State for promoting global peace and security. We have proven that whether in battle field or diplomacy, Pakistan is second to none.”

The ambassador also praised the Pakistani-Omani diaspora for their extremely important role in building Pakistan’s economy through remittances and investments and acting as a bridge between Pakistan and Oman.

CHINA

The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing held a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony. Charge d’ affaires Aizaz Khan hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.

In his remarks, Charge d’Affaires, Aizaz Khan extended warm felicitations to the Pakistani community in China. He highlighted that Pakistan and China are commemorating 75 years of establishment of their diplomatic relations, which are seeped into deep-rooted friendship and trust.

He also appreciated the constructive role of the Pakistani diaspora in contributing towards national development and further strengthening bilateral ties through people-to-people exchanges.

The ceremony also featured a photo exhibition, showcasing the various facets of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s life. The students of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing also gave performances on the occasion, conveying the message of steadfastness, perseverance and hard work.

The event was attended by Embassy officials, members of the Pakistani community and their families as well as members of Chinese media, intelligentsia and civil society.

BANGLADESH

The Pakistan Independence Day ceremony held at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by High Commissioner Imran Haider to the tune of the national anthem.

A large number of Pakistani community members living in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi friends, well-wishers, students, journalists and members of civil society attended the event.

The leadership of the country extended heartfelt felicitations to Pakistanis at home and abroad on the occasion of Independence Day. They paid earnest tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Father of the Nation, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and the dedicated workers of the Pakistan Movement, whose sacrifices, vision and unwavering commitment led to the creation of Pakistan.

On this occasion, prizes and certificates were also distributed among Bangladeshi students who took part in an essay competition titled “Historical Sites in Pakistan” organised by the High Commission.

The celebrations concluded with special prayers for the peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

TANZANIA

The 80th Independence Day of Pakistan and the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah were celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour at the High Commission of Pakistan in Dar es Salaam.
A large number of Pakistani diaspora, along with their families and Tanzanian friends, attended the event. The national flag was hoisted by the Charge d’Affaires Muhammad Azeem Khan, to the tune of the playing of the national anthem.
In his remarks, he paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose visionary leadership, courage, and unwavering determination led to the creation of Pakistan as an independent homeland.
He recalled the immense sacrifices and hardships faced during the struggle for Pakistan and highlighted the Quaid-e-Azam’s guiding principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline as a lasting source of inspiration for the nation.
He also expressed appreciation for the continued contribution of the Pakistani community in strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between Pakistan and Tanzania.

TAJIKISTAN

Pakistan Embassy in Tajikistan held a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
A solemn tribute was paid to the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and the martyrs of Pakistan.
The ceremony also featured the national anthem and patriotic songs, reflecting the spirit of national pride and unity.

VIETNAM

The Embassy of Pakistan in Vietnam commemorated the Independence Day of Pakistan with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery.
The Ambassador read out messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The event was attended by esteemed members of the Pakistani community, who joined in celebrating this important national occasion.

MAURITIUS

The High Commission of Pakistan in Mauritius commemorated the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan with a solemn and spirited flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery in Floreal.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Mayor of Curepipe, Ms. Ami-Lepois Marie Diana, President of the Mau-Pak Association Mr. Iqbal Bellat, and former High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan Mr. Rafick Ellahi, alongside the President of the Noon Society, the President of Friends of Pakistan, members of the Pakistani diaspora, families, and local friends of Pakistan.
Chargé d’Affaires, Khadijah Khalid Khan hoisted the National Flag to the tune of the national anthem.
Delivering the keynote address Khan paid rich tribute to the founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for his visionary leadership and noted the nationwide observance of his 150th Birth Anniversary this year.
Special appreciation was extended to the vibrant Pakistani community in Mauritius, especially diaspora families and youth for serving as true cultural ambassadors and bridging the two friendly nations.

GUANGZHOU

The Independence Day ceremony held at Pakistan Consulate in Guangzhou was attended by Pakistanis from all walks of life—business leaders, professors, doctors, researchers, students, and their Chinese friends and families.
Consul General addressed the gathering, reminding the audience of the immense sacrifices of the founding leaders and the resilience of the Pakistani nation. He proudly highlighted that Pakistan is a peaceful nation, committed to coexistence—regionally and globally—and praised the bravery and professionalism of our Armed Forces, security personnel, and civilians, especially during the victory in Marak-e-Haq.

He also extended heartfelt gratitude to the people and governments of the five provinces in South China of Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Hainan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for their incredible hospitality and for making Pakistanis feel truly at home.
The evening ended on a high note, with everyone carrying home not just the taste of sweet delicacies, but also unforgettable memories of unity and pride in the beautiful city of Guangzhou.

THAILAND

The Embassy of Pakistan in Thailand celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a dignified ceremony at the Chancery in Bangkok, attended by members of the Pakistani diaspora and embassy officials.
Ambassador-designate Saadia Altaf Qazi paid tribute to the martyrs, veterans and founding fathers of Pakistan, reaffirming the enduring spirit of sacrifice, unity and resilience that defines our nation.

IRAQ

The 79th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan was commemorated at the Embassy of Pakistan in Baghdad. Embassy officers and officials, along with members of the Pakistani community residing in Baghdad, attended the event with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador of Pakistan to Iraq, Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed, accompanied by the national anthem of Pakistan.
In his address, Ambassador Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed paid rich tribute to the historic struggle and immense sacrifices of the Muslims of the Subcontinent under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which led to the creation of an independent homeland on 14 August 1947.
He emphasized that independence was achieved through extraordinary determination, unity and sacrifice, and that safeguarding and strengthening Pakistan remained a collective responsibility of every Pakistani.
He further emphasized that Pakistanis living abroad also had an important role in the country’s progress. Through their professionalism, hard work, remittances, investment and positive representation of Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis could make a valuable contribution to national development while strengthening Pakistan’s relations with countries around the world.
On the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled and unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stated that the Kashmir dispute remained an internationally recognized issue that must be resolved peacefully in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be allowed to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace, security, unity, development and prosperity of Pakistan, the well-being of its people, and for the progress and strength of the country.

REPUBLIC OF KOREA

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan, the Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul organized a commemorative event at Siheung Business Center. Mayor of Siheung City Lim Byeong-taek, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The celebration was attended by a large number of Korean friends and members of the Pakistani community, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea.
The event featured a vibrant performance by the Traditional Arts Group of Korea, and Korean singers enthusiastically performed “Dil Dil Pakistan,” adding a memorable cultural touch to the celebrations.
In his remarks, Ambassador Syed Moazzam H. Shah congratulated all Pakistanis in Korea and around the world on the Independence Day of Pakistan.
He urged the Pakistani community to uphold the principles of our forefathers and continue contributing towards a peaceful, united, and prosperous Pakistan.
