ISLAMABAD, Feb 23 (APP): Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai Hussain Muhammad, Monday, emphasized the importance of utilizing formal and legal channels for remitting funds to Pakistan.
He underlined that sending remittances through proper banking channels not only strengthened Pakistan’s economy but also ensured the safety and security of the workers’ hard-earned income.
He also encouraged community members to continue being exemplary residents of the United Arab Emirates by respecting and upholding local laws and regulations.
He was speaking at an Iftar dinner and community engagement event in Al Ghurair Workers Camp in Sonapur, Dubai organized by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Al Ansari Exchange, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Pakistan, a press release said.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness among community members, acknowledge their contributions to Pakistan’s economy, and share Iftar with them during the holy month of Ramazan.
The event was attended by Muhammad Saleh, Press Counsellor; Junaid Murtaza and Imran Shahid, Community Welfare Attaches, along with representatives of NBP and Al Ansari Exchange, and a large number of Pakistani workers.
While touring the workers’ camp, the consul general interacted with residents, inquired about their wellbeing, and conveyed the government of Pakistan’s continued commitment to supporting overseas Pakistanis.
He extended heartfelt Ramadan greetings and reaffirmed that the consulate remained fully accessible to assist the Pakistani diaspora in the Northern Emirates.
Rashid-ul-Islam, Business Lead, NBP, highlighted the growing significance of overseas remittances to Pakistan’s economy.
He shared that the UAE currently ranks second globally in remittance inflows to Pakistan.
He also elaborated on promotional initiatives by Al Ansari Exchange and the NBP cash reward scheme for customers remitting funds directly into NBP accounts in Pakistan.
During the ceremony, special recognition was accorded to top remitters, who were presented with gifts and prizes in appreciation of their consistent contributions.
