RAWALPINDI, May 16 (APP): A speech competition highlighting the dignity, rights and societal role of women was held at the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) here Saturday, where participants emphasized respect and empowerment of women as vital for national progress.
The event, titled ‘Hum Maain, Hum Behnain, Hum Betiyan — Qaum ki Izzat Hum Se Hai,’ was organized under the aegis of the PAC, drawing participation from students of various educational institutions who delivered passionate speeches on the importance of women in society.
The speakers described women as the foundation of society, a symbol of civilisation and a source of national pride, while underscoring the need to ensure their rights, protection, education and autonomy. The audience appreciated the participants for their articulate and thought-provoking presentations.

Students from various schools across the district highlighted the vital role of women in Pakistani society. They sumbolized the women as key element tobtue national integrity and development.
Tahira Aurangzeb, MNA and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Punjab Shazia Rizwan attended the event as chief guests. They praised the students’ confidence, creativity and positive messaging, terming it a reflection of growing awareness among the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Tahira Aurangzeb said that women, as mothers, sisters and daughters, were the most valuable asset of the society, adding that a civilized and progressive nation always ensured respect, protection and equal rights for women. She urged the younger generation to play an active role in promoting respect for women and highlighting their positive contributions.
Speakers at the event also paid tribute to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her initiatives aimed at women’s welfare, education, healthcare and empowerment. They noted that the provincial government was taking practical steps to provide a safe and dignified environment for women and ensure equal opportunities for their development.
At the conclusion of the event, prizes, shields and certificates were distributed among students who showed outstanding performance, while participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting respect, protection and dignity of women in society.
