ISLAMABAD, Jul 23 (APP):Spotify has celebrated the enduring musical legacy of Pakistani singer Atif Aslam ahead of the release of his new album, Subah Aye Na, scheduled for July 31, highlighting his global reach and continued popularity among listeners across generations.
According to Spotify, Atif has amassed nearly 8 billion streams, attracts more than 30 million monthly listeners, and is streamed in 184 countries, underscoring his international appeal.
For more than two decades, Atif’s music has resonated with audiences through songs that have become synonymous with love, heartbreak, celebration, nostalgia and spirituality. His albums Doorie and Meri Kahani remain among his most celebrated works, continuing to connect with listeners years after their release.
Spotify said that over the past year, 96 per cent of Atif’s streams originated from outside Pakistan, reflecting a strong international fan base spanning South Asia, the Middle East, North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
The streaming platform added that Atif’s songs feature on more than 37.5 million user-created playlists worldwide, ranging from wedding and travel playlists to collections centred on heartbreak, nostalgia and personal memories.
The platform also noted that Atif’s appeal extends strongly to younger audiences, with Generation Z accounting for 85 per cent of his streams on Spotify. During the past year, more than 41 million listeners either discovered or returned to his music.
“Very few artists become part of a country’s collective memory in the way Atif Aslam has,” said Rutaba Yaqub, Spotify’s Artist and Label Partnerships Manager for Pakistan and the UAE.
“His music has accompanied listeners through every stage of life, and what we see on Spotify today is that those emotional connections continue to grow, in Pakistan and across the world. It speaks to the timelessness of his music and the lasting bond he shares with his fans,” she said.
Sharing his thoughts ahead of the album’s release, Atif Aslam said, “This album is a true representation of freeing myself from the chaos and meeting my real self. Stay tuned. I can’t wait for all of you to hear it.”
Spotify said Subah Aye Na marks a new chapter in Atif Aslam’s career while building on a legacy that has continued to resonate with millions of listeners worldwide.
The album features eight tracks: Subah Aye Na, Safar Mein Hun, Ishq, Let’s Have Some Fun, Sun Sajna, Hun Ishq Mein, Char Yaar, and Sachay Waday.
