KARACHI, Dec 09 (APP):Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik’s Wife, Mushaal Malik, visited the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Tuesday, along with her daughter and sister.
She was warmly received by President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah and Chairperson Women Empowerment Committee, Chand Gul Shah.
During the visit, Mushaal Malik and Ahmed Shah held discussions on the Kashmir freedom struggle and the life sentence of Yasin Malik, along with other related matters. Mushaal Malik also visited different sections of the Arts Council. Speaking about the World Culture Festival, Ahmed Shah said that during the 39-day event, the Council highlighted the issue of Kashmir alongside Gaza. Through the World Culture Festival, we raised the Kashmir cause at the international level,” he stated. He added that Mushaal Malik is not only a sensitive artist but also plays a vital role in protecting the real perspective of Kashmir across the globe. The Arts Council will produce dramas and short films on Kashmir to present the real situation and the natural beauty of the region to the world,” he noted.
Talking to the media, Mushaal Malik said she is running a public awareness campaign for her husband, Yasin Malik. “On January 28, preparations are being made to convert his life imprisonment into a death sentence. Any decision may come at any time,” she said. Calling herself an artist, she said artists are emotionally sensitive. She appreciated the Arts Council’s library, where works of leading literary figures are preserved.
She also praised the themes of the World Culture Festival 2025, which included child abuse, women’s harassment, and condemnation of genocide and climate issues.
Criticizing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said his policies have made the lives of Kashmiris unbearable, and a blackout has been imposed to silence their voices. She also announced that she intends to auction her artworks to raise funds for the freedom movement, saying that the struggle now urgently requires resources.
