ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP):Legendary classical singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was remembered on his 52nd death anniversary on Friday, as admirers recalled his enduring legacy and contribution to classical music.
Born in 1922 in Hoshiarpur, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was the grandson of Ali Baksh Jarnail, founder of the Patiala Gharana.
He migrated to Pakistan in 1948 and went on to establish himself as a prominent vocalist, excelling in ghazal, raag and thumri music.
His memorable ghazals, including “Mora Jiya Na Lagay”, “Kab Aogay”, “Yah Na Thi Hamari Qismat” and “Aa Mere Pyar Ki Khushboo”, have continued to captivate music lovers over the years.
In recognition of his contribution to music, the legendary vocalist was awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan.
Ustad Amanat Ali Khan died in 1974 and was laid to rest in Lahore.
