Two-day Urs celebrations of Baba Peera Shah Ghazi (RA) to begin from Friday

MIRPUR (AJK): April 18 (APP):The two-day Urs celebrations of the eminent spiritual leader, saint and the preacher of Islam in the sub-continent, Baba Peer-a-Shah Ghazi (RA), famously known as Damri Wali Sarkar, will commence at his mausoleum at Khari Sharif, Mirpur from Friday (April 19) with traditional religious respect and honour, it was officially declared here on Thursday.
There will be local holiday in Mirpur district on April 20 (Saturday) to facilitate the local pilgrims to attend the concluding ceremonies of the Urs celebrations.
“Security has been beefed up with deployment of additional police force at Khari Sahareef to maintain complete peace and order during the Urs celebrations,” Auqaf Department Divisional Director, Custodian of the Shrine, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Auqaf Department sources told media here.
Special arrangements have been made to hold the Urs celebrations in a befitting manner and with fullest reverence under the aegis of the AJK government.
AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan will inaugurate the Urs celebrations at the shrine of the saint.
AJK Sports and Culture Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed will head the ceremony.
The opening ceremony will be marked with the ablution of his mausoleum besides laying of wreath at the Mazar by the pilgrims.
Leading scholars and Ulema will deliver special speeches at the opening ceremony to pay tribute to the spiritual leader, he said.
The sources said pilgrims including the admirers of the saint and the preacher of Islam from all over the country including Azad Kashmir will attend the Urs celebrations like all previous years to offer Fateha and pay glorious tributes to Baba Peera Shah Ghazi for the grand job he performed to spread the teachings of Islam bringing thousands of people in this region in the fold of Islam through his marvelous services to this direction.
Meanwhile, thousands of devotees and admirers of the renowned saint from across the country and including Azad Jammu Kashmir have started reaching through public and private transport at the mausoleum of the spiritual leader to attend the Urs celebrations and to pay tributes to the late preacher of Islam for his great services for preaching and upholding the teachings of Islam in the region.
On this occasion, prominent scholars, Naat Khawan and poets will present the mystic poetry of great saint and Arif-e-Khari Shareef Hazrat Mian Muhammad Bukhsh (RA).
