Twin cities residents show no interest in April fool day

ISLAMABAD, Apr 1 (APP):The residents of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Monday showed no interest to celebrate “April Fool Day” commemorated on April 1 by playing jokes and spreading hoaxes.

The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April fool jokes often expose their prank by shouting” April fools” at the unfortunate victims.

Some newspapers, magazines and other published media report fake stories, which are usually explained the next day or below the news section in smaller letters.

Although popular since the 19th century, the day is not a public holiday in every country. Little is known about the origins of this tradition.

Aside from April Fools’ Day, the custom of setting aside a day for the playing of harmless pranks upon one’s neighbour has historically been relatively common in the world.

Lecturer at Qauid-e-Azam University Salman Ali Khan Bhittani said that people are no more interested to just waste time on such useless activities.

He said that once it was famous among youth but it’s no attractive for youth too.

He said that internationally April Fool Day celebrated in western countries as it was originated from Western part of the world adding that once people were taking some interest in this Day.
