Solo show on Punjab Romanticism opens on April 25

ISLAMABAD, Apr 23 (APP):Punjab Romanticism – an exhibition of recent works by Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi will be displayed for art and nature lovers here on April 25 at Tanzara Art Gallery.

Zulfi is a realist painter, but his paintings including landscapes or cityscapes are more than an imitation of what is seen. He has the magic of capturing the essence of the vignette that he replicates on canvas. Beyond realism he understands his subject matter well.

Be it a rustic scene, or an urban setting, misty horizons, or cattle out in the open fields, the artist renders such images with amazing dexterity.

His paintings take their inspiration from a direct observation of nature. He uses a rich palette that brings a pictorial richness to his canvas. Zulfi’s imagery is delightful as he is a master of capturing seasons and times of day. In his landscapes, the viewer can truly feel the breeze and smell the grass.

The foggy winter morning scenes are cold and the sunny landscapes warm and brilliant, said Noshi Qadir, curator of the show.

The artist is the recipient of the Presidents Pride of Performance award. He has several solo and group shows to his credit and his paintings are in major collections home and abroad.

In keeping with its tradition of offering quality art to its patrons, Tanzara Art Gallery will display the latest works of Lahore based artist Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, she said.
