Portrait painting competition tomorrow

ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP): Pakistan National Council of the
Arts (PNCA) here Thursday invited graduates and amateur artists for a
live portrait competition to show their skills and talent at national level.
The competition will boost the skills of participants by giving them
opportunity to show their talent in medium of oil on canvas and
water colors, while three best art works will be awarded cash prizes and
all the participants will be given certificates, said Director Visual
Arts, PNCA, Mussarrat Naheed Imam.
The portraits painted during the competition will be displayed at
PNCA including the wining paintings for public viewing and appreciating
the young talent.
The competition aims at boosting the hidden creative potential of
the coming generation of artists as well as provide them a platform of
national level to showcase their ideas and creativity, she said.
These programmes are a regular feature of PNCA to educate the young
generation through their interaction by masters in the field and
promote tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Pakistan.
Besides depicting the culture and traditions of the country, such
shows also educate the youth regarding the basic and advanced techniques
of various arts being practiced by the established artists and express
their ideas through soft expressions of art, she added.
This competition has invited students from various educational
institutions of twin cities and budding artists to participate in art
activities organized by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting,
and National Heritage.
