Pakistan first Opera Star to promote message of peace, love

ISLAMABAD, Apr 24 (APP):Pakistan first Opera Star Saira Peter is all set to promote the message of peace, love and brotherhood with the poetry of Sufis among people through her upcoming projects.

After performing in many countries around the globe, she selected opera music to spread this message in Europe, Being a part of the music profession since the past 18 years, she has been singing spiritual Sufi poetry as her passion and she feels proud to spread the teaching of Sufism across the globe, Saira Peter said while talking to APP on Wednesday.

World’s first Sufi Opera artist, said the love of my country and its people is the greatest motivation for me in my creative pursuits.

She was inspired by Madam Noor Jahan. She got training of opera music from Paul Knight, who was the pupil of famous music teacher Bungimen British.

These days she was in Islamabad on the special invitation of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) to perform in week-long National Music Mela.

In her performance at National Music Mela, Saira Peter performed “Barray Be Murawat Hein Yeh Husun Walay” and “Wanjali Walaryia” and got big applause from jam packed auditorium of PNCA. She enthralled the audience with fusion of eastern and western tunes.

In her first performance, Saira Peter sang “Suunway Balori Ankh Walia” and “Wada Karoo Sajna” and got a big applause from the audience.

Saira Peter highly praised PNCA for organizing a week-long National Music Festival to entertain the people of federal capital. Director General PNCA Syed Jamal Shah in his remarks also appreciated Saira Peter for brining the unique genre of Sufi Opera to the Pakistan. He said that her music is truly different, combining Western and Eastern instruments.
