Lok Virsa to organize workshop of traditional basketry work

ISLAMABAD, Nov 2 (APP): Lok Virsa would organize Craft of the
Month program “Traditional Basketry Work” from November 7 at
Heritage Museum.
Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed told APP that a
high level opening ceremony will be held at Lok Virsa.
She said that master artisans of the field will be there to
demonstrate their skills and teach children as well.
She said that school children will learn during week-long
exciting and creative activity. Timings will from 10am – 5PM.
The aim of these courses is to provide a thorough imparting
of techniques in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Baskets are made for a variety of purposes, including food
gathering and storage, furnishings, garments and ceremonial uses.

variations on these types made by different individual artists.
Some basket types that can be seen in museums are no longer a
part of the daily lives of native peoples.
Many other kinds of basketry, however, maintain significant
roles in art and cultures.
