Local poet gets cheque of Rs 20,000 from Punjab govt
RAJANPUR, June 22 (APP)::Punjab Information and Culture
Department handed over a cheque of Rs 20,000 to a local poet, Gulab
Ahmad, on Friday in recognition of his services to society
through creative work.
The cheque was given to the poet by District Information
Officer Asadullah Shahzad from Punjab Writers Welfare Fund
after the poet got published his Seraiki poetry book titled
‘Chandr Vich Talhi’.
Gulab Ahmad, who belongs to financially challenged segment
of society, says he earns his living by working as a labourer and
as shepherd and creates Seraiki poems that are not only
entertaining but also carry some message on social values.
