KARACHI, Nov 09 (APP): Karachi Theater Festival continue to draw huge number of art lovers, since this over two-week event opened last Thursday, thanks to the improved law and order situation in the metropolis.
The event features dramas written by many well-known writers, including Intizar Hussain, Kamal Ahmed Rizvi and Sarmad Sehbai and directed by Zia Mohyeddin, Sheema Kirmani and other directors.
The growing interest of the people in the event that is being staged at
the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi can be judged from the fact that two shows would be played from Wednesday (Nov 9) onward. The festival will conclude on November 21.
On Tuesday night, the sixth drama “Ye Shadi Nahi ho Sakti” which is
directed by Irfan Sadiq was staged, and received a great response from the audience. The play is about a grandfather’s quest to find true love at the cost of 50-year-old relationship with a devout wife and loving family. This situational drawing room comedy, blended deep in our eastern cultural values, highlights intimacy of relations in the eastern joint family system.
Director Irfan Sadiq has put an extra element of abstract moves with
classical touches in the musical comedy with various soft messages and lessons thereby creating an affirmative impact on the society.
The next drama on the list was “Aaj ki Taza Kabr” directed by Younas
Khan to be played on Wednesday night, while on Thursday (Nov 10) “Haron de ke pass karo”, directed by Ishtaq-ur-Rasool, writer Neil Simon.
