Classical film Naila to be screened at Lok Virsa

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6 (APP): National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa will screen the classical super hit film Naila here on January 9 to revive the culture of classical cinema in twin cities.

Naila was a super beautiful Pakistani color movie. Its story was based on the famous novel of writer Razia Butt while it was released in 1965 with film stars Santosh Kumar and Shamim Aara in its cast.

Popular for its song ‘Ghame Dil Ko Inn Ankhon Se Chalak jana bhee Ata Hai’, Naila was the second color film of Pakistan which was produced by G A Gul and directed by S Nayyer. The other actors were Derpan, Ragni, A Shah, Saqi Husna and Kumar.

The film got many awards and best film award of Nigar of 1965.

Shamim Aara, Pakistani film actress, director and producer got popularity for her leading role in the then West Pakistan’s first color motion picture Naila and her fame and impeccable acting skills landed her the title character in the film.

Her portrayal of the tragic Naila which is a story of two step brothers and their cousin Naila, won her further critical acclaim due to this film. It was a unique record that this film was continuously exhibited for more than three years in Zafar Firdos Cinema Peshawar since from Dec 1965.

“The Mandwa film club of Lok Virsa is an initiative taken by the institute to revive the classical cinema in the twincities and involve the fun lovers in healthy activities that keep alive the dying the culture and traditions among the young generation,” said Fouzia Saeed, Executive Director, Lok Virsawhile talking to APP.

The Lok Virsa screen national and international classical hits on every weekend and invite audience from all walks of life to entertain them as well as engage them in cultural programmes, she said.
