Call for artworks, Art For Peace

ISLAMABAD, May 13 (APP):Asia Peace Film Festival (APFF) is bringing together a large number of artists from all over the country in an exhibition “Art for Peace” to strength the plural, diverse and inclusive identity of Quetta from June 17 to 19.

This exhibition aims to open a creative contemporary space for artists from Pakistan, to share their thoughts on the topic of peace – from questions to answers that may be obvious or subjective; individual or collective.

It is a space for art and artists to communicate with the public and promote a connection to the topic through diverse media, said Gulnoori Ghani, Curator , Art For Peace Quetta Edition 2019, while talking to APP here Monday.

The curatorial team will accept art works, including painting, drawing, photography and installations developed by artists of Pakistan with special focus on Balochistan‘s people, culture and land. The call is open till 5th June and the finalists will be announced by 07 June, 2019.

Asia Peace Film Festival – Quetta Edition (2019) is dedicated to celebrate the creative and diverse credentials of Quetta recognizing the city’s placement as a ‘cultural kaleidoscope’ of Balochistan. Quetta is also an inimitable point of creative convergence and a true melting-pot of diverse cultures of the province and country.

Following the guidelines of the APFF, the exhibition aims to promote an inter-cultural dialogue beyond borders, focusing on its main goals: re-conciliatory recollections, conflict-mediation and peace-building; reclaiming space for diversity, pluralism, tolerance and coexistence.

To strength the plural, diverse and inclusive identity of Quetta, the APFF would be bringing together a large number of filmmakers, artists, animators, performers, media wizards, parliamentarians, academics, peace activists and dynamic students of cinematography from all over the country and across Asia to showcase their creativity in categories of short film, documentaries, animation and music video, said Ashraf Kakar, Convener of the Festival
