ISLAMABAD, Dec 14 (APP): Ajoka theatre in collaboration with
Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Wednesday staged three acclaimed plays here at PNCA Auditorium.
The first play ‘Dukh Darya’ (The River of Sorrow) was based on
a true story of Kashmiri woman wanted to cross the border unconsciously.
The story reflected the unending suffering of Kashmiri people on the
border.
The second play ‘Kabira Khara Bazar Mein’ based on Bhisham Shani’s famous play, directed by one of India’s prominent theatre director
Kewal Dhaliwal.
‘Kabira Khara Bazar Mein’ was Ajoka’s latest play on a sufi/mystic personality.
The 15th century poet-saint, Kabira is the best known
representative of the Bhakti movement, which was largely monotheistic spiritual and social movement which challenged the Hindu caste system
and projected a relationship with the creator based on love and
compassion.
The third play ‘Bala King’ was a Punjabi adaptation by Shahid
Nadeem of a Bertlot Brecht’s play written with allegorical reference to
the rise of Hitler and has been directed by Madiha Gauhar.
Ajoka’s musicians also participated in a musical fusion with famous Danish band ‘Live Strings’.
