ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP): A two day Gilgit Baltistan Mela concluded here at National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa.
GB Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the Mela held in connection with independence of Gilgit Baltistan from Dogra regime.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said Gilgit Baltistan had rich historical cultural heritage and the local artists were working hard for its promotion.
He thanked Lok Virsa for organizing Gilgit Baltistan Mela to celebrate GB’s independence from the Dogra Raj.
He said his government was making efforts to promote the cultural heritage as an industry.
He also announced Rs 50,000 prize for the organizers and participating children.
Earlier in her welcome address, Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr Fouzia Saeed said the Mela was arranged to promote the rich culture of Giglgit Baltistan.
Later, renowned GB artists Salman Faris, Jabir Ali Jabir, and Iqbal Hussain Iqbal performed on the occasion and got big pplause from the jam packed Lok Virsa Open Air Theater.
Folk artists and musicians attired in traditional costumes performed in a true reflection of the diverse culture and musical heritage of Gilgit Baltistan.
Later, the GB ghief minister also took round of stalls and appreciated the organizers.
