WASA MD directs to accelerate progress on sewerage upgradation projects

FAISALABAD, Mar 10 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Saqib Raza on Tuesday directed WASA officials to accelerate construction work on ongoing development schemes and ensure strict safety arrangements at all project sites across the city.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of development projects being executed under Punjab Development Program, he stressed the need to expedite work so that benefits of the schemes could reach people at the earliest.
He said that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz had released funds worth billions of rupees for the upgradation of sewerage infrastructure in Faisalabad, under which multiple development schemes were currently underway in different parts of the city to improve the drainage system.
He said that although work on several projects was progressing, yet the pace of construction needed to be further expedited to complete the schemes within stipulated timeframe.
He particularly directed WASA officials to focus on the main sewerage project along Jhang Road for providing lasting relief from sewerage problems to the residents of adjoining localities. The scheme should be completed as early as possible so that people in the area could benefit from improved sanitation services, he added.
He also instructed WASA officials to ensure proper cordoning of all development sites and implement comprehensive safety measures to prevent accidents.
Any negligence or carelessness in maintaining safety standards at project locations would not be tolerated, he warned.
