FAISALABAD, Aug 07 (APP): The district administration, in a joint operation with Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), has sealed two industrial units on Friday for violating monsoon emergency Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
A spokesman of local administration said that the action was taken against two dyeing factories located on Shadman Road after they were found violating the prescribed monsoon emergency guidelines issued to industrial units operating in the city.
He said that the operation was jointly carried out by teams of the district administration, PERA and WASA as part of an intensified campaign to ensure compliance with precautionary measures aimed at preventing urban flooding, environmental hazards and disruption to the drainage system during heavy rains.
The industrial units had failed to implement the mandatory SOPs during rainfall despite repeated directions issued by the authorities, prompting immediate enforcement action, he added.
He reiterated that all industrial establishments were required to fully comply with the monsoon emergency protocols, otherwise any negligence or violation of official instructions would invite strict legal action including sealing of premises and other penalties under the relevant laws.
The inspections would continue throughout the monsoon season to ensure industries adhered to environmental and safety regulations and no compromise would be made on the measures designed to safeguard public interests and maintain the effective functioning of drainage infrastructure of the city, he added.
