Tajikistan independence anniversary highlights enduring bonds with Pakistan

Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo, who is visiting Pakistan as a state guest, visited the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Wednesday, accompanied by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhary Salik Hussain.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo, who is visiting Pakistan as a state guest, visited the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Wednesday, accompanied by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhary Salik Hussain.
The distinguished visitors were received at the mausoleum by Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, Deputy Commissioner East Nasarullah Abbasi and Abdul Aleem Shaikh, Resident Engineer of the Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB).
During the visit, Houngbo and the federal minister laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and observed the solemn ceremonial proceedings. They received a guard of honour from a contingent of the Pakistan Navy, offered Fateha and recorded their impressions in the Visitors’ Book, in keeping with established state protocols.
The visitors were also briefed on the historical and national significance of the mausoleum and the efforts being made to preserve its heritage and maintain the site. Officials highlighted the ongoing preservation, conservation and maintenance initiatives being carried out under the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture through the QMMB.
The visit provided an opportunity for the ILO chief to pay tribute to the founder of Pakistan while witnessing the country’s efforts to safeguard one of its most important national monuments.
