SBP earns Rs 1,990 bn in FY26, Rs 1,932 bn remitted to federal govt

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), releasing annual financial statements for financial year 2025-26 on Thursday, informed that the central bank earned net profit of Rs 1,990 billion in FY26 and a surplus profit of Rs 1,932 billion has been remitted to the federal government. 

KARACHI, Aug 27 (APP): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), releasing annual financial statements for financial year 2025-26 on Thursday, informed that the central bank earned net profit of Rs 1,990 billion in FY26 and a surplus profit of Rs 1,932 billion has been remitted to the federal government.
“The State Bank of Pakistan has released its financial statements for the financial year ended on 30 June, 2026 along with auditors’ report thereon on its website, said a statement issued here, adding that the financial statements and auditors’ report have also been transmitted to the Federal Government and the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) in compliance with the Section 40(3) of the State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956.
During the year, according to the statement, the SBP earned net profit of Rs. 1,990 billion and after accounting for appropriations as required under the accounting framework and statutory requirements, the surplus profit of Rs. 1,932 billion has been remitted to the Federal Government.
According to the consolidated financial statements of SBP, its total assets increased to Rs 28,840.6 billion in FY26 from Rs 26,479.6 billion in FY25 while total liabilities in FY26 accounted for Rs 22,817.5 billion against Rs 20,554 billion in FY25.
Gold reserves held by the Bank increased to Rs 2,334 billion as compared to gold reserves of Rs 1,942 billion, Foreign currency accounts and investments surged to Rs 5,361 billion in FY26 from Rs 4,451.9 billion in FY25, while securities purchased under agreement to resell soared to Rs 15,600 billion from Rs 12,543 billion in the previous fiscal year.
However Local Investments declined in FY26 to Rs 3,546.4 billion from Rs 5,314 billion in FY25, and Loans, advances and bills of exchange decreased to Rs 1,583,4 billion from Rs 1,911.7 billion in FY25.
