ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):Rice exports from the country during first two months of the current financial year grew by 24.68 percent as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of the last year, according to the data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Over 658,610 metric tons of rice valued at $391.741 million were exported during the period from July-August 2026 as compared to the exports of 545,472 metric tons worth of $314.198 million of the same period of the last year.
Meanwhile, the Basmati rice exports from the country during the period under review increased by 53.04 percent as 145,731 metric tons of Basmati rice worth of $164.091 million were exported as compared to the exports of 101,973 metric tons valued at $107.223 million of the same period of the last year.
In first two months of the current financial year, over 508,878 metric tons of rice other varieties worth of $227.650 million were also exported as compared the exports of 443,499 metric tons valued at $206.975 million of the same period of the last year.
Food group exports from the country during the first two months of the current financial year grew by 7.67 per cent as compared to exports of the corresponding period of the last year.
During the period from July-August 2026, food commodities worth $833.023 million were exported as compared to the exports of $773.644 million in the same period of the last year.
On the other hand, food group imports into the country during the first two months of the current financial year grew by 2.23 per cent as against the imports of the same period of the last year.
During the period from July to August 2026, different food commodities costing $1.503 billion were imported as compared to imports of $1.470 billion in the same period of the last year.
