Punjab industries minister chairs PBTE Board meeting
LAHORE, Sep 02 (APP):Provincial Minister for Industries & Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain Wednesday visited the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE), where he inspected the working of the One-Window Services and Complaints Cell and chaired a meeting of the Board members.
The meeting reviewed a 15-point agenda items. PBTE Chairman Dr. Faisal Mahmood gave a detailed briefing on the digitization of the Board’s operations, reforms introduced in the institution, and its restructuring.
The Board approved various administrative and financial matters including the appointment of a Medical Advisor and hiring of an HR company for human resource management. Eleven policies relating to assessment and certification were assigned to different Board members for review. The policies will be finalized and implemented in light of the recommendations of the Board members.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said, the affairs of Punjab Board of Technical Education had been digitized to ensure transparency in the examination system. Digital monitoring of examination centres, e-marking of examination papers, and their digital transmission system had been introduced.
He said, agreements were also being made with international organizations for international certification. “Promotion of quality technical education and preparation of a skilled workforce according to market needs is the government’s top priority,” he added.
The provincial minister said that laboratories at various TEVTA institutions had been upgraded with funds provided by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Courses in Arabic, German, Japanese and Korean languages, in addition to Chinese, had also been introduced at TEVTA institutions.
He said, AI courses were also being launched this month at the Punjab Tianjin University of Technology. Chaudhry Shafay Hussain directed the authorities to review the working of technical education boards in China, Canada and other countries and explore best practices.
The provincial minister observed that there was a huge demand for skilled manpower in the international market. He said the federal and provincial governments were focusing on sending skilled workers abroad through legal channels.
PBTE Chairman Dr. Faisal Mahmood said, the Punjab Board of Technical Education was being restructured in line with modern requirements. A Project Management Unit had already been established, while the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) system was also being launched.
Additional Secretary Industries Imran Bashir, Professor Nizamuddin and other Board members also attended the meeting, while some Board members participated through video link.
