PSX witnesses bearish trend, loses over 2,288 points

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) stayed bearish on Monday, losing 2,288.17 points, a negative change of 1.36 percent, to close at 165,867.32 points against 168,155.49 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 441.898 million shares, compared to 493.957 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value decreased to Rs15.709 billion from Rs17.491 billion.
Market capitalisation decreased to Rs18.464 trillion from Rs18.725 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 499 companies that traded in the ready market, 55 posted gains, 409 suffered losses, while 35 remained unchanged, reflecting a bearish trend in the market.
F. Nat.Equities led the volume chart with 50.252 million shares, followed by Pak Int.Bulk with 30.666 million shares and Cnergyico PK with 30.042 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Dadex Eternit Limited surged by Rs13.14 to close at Rs144.55, while Pakistan Synthetics Limited advanced by Rs11.61 to settle at Rs183.95.
On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs472.40 to close at Rs25,016.00, while PIA Holding Company LimitedB fell by Rs150.50 to Rs15,000.00.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 91.217 million shares with a traded value of Rs4.552 billion, compared with 94.041 million shares worth Rs5.370 billion in the previous session.
Of the 296 companies traded in the DFC market, 15 advanced, 281 declined and zero remained unchanged.
