PSX witnesses bearish trend, loses 1,521 points

ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP):The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday witnessed a bearish trend as the benchmark KSE-100 Index fell by 1,521.39 points, a negative change of 0.93 percent, closing at 161,281.77 points compared to 162,803.16 points on the previous trading day.
The total turnover in the ready market was recorded at 899.41 million shares against 949.36 million shares a day earlier, while the traded value decreased to Rs 37.31 billion from Rs 47.58 billion. The market capitalization also fell to
Rs 18.47 trillion from Rs 18.64 trillion.
Out of 479 companies that transacted shares in the ready market, 133 closed higher, 314 recorded losses, while 32 remained unchanged.
WorldCall Telecom remained the volume leader with 78.87 million shares, followed by Telecard Limited with 76.86 million shares and K-Electric Ltd. with 71.62 million shares.
The top gainer of the day was Pakistan Services Limited, which increased by Rs 115.61 to close at Rs 1,317.11, followed by Ismail Industries Limited, up Rs 35.59 to close at Rs 1,999.98.
On the other hand, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited suffered a major loss of Rs 186.46, closing at Rs 28,753.29, while PIA Holding Company Limited-B decreased by Rs 27.55 to close at Rs 24,425.50.
In the futures market, a total of 234.46 million shares were traded compared to 232.09 million on the previous day, with TRG-NOV, Telecard-NOV, and BOP-NOV emerging as the top three by volume.
