PSX turns bullish, sheds over 1,116 points
ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around to bearish trend on Tuesday, losing 1,116.80 points, a negative change of 0.63 percent, to close at 177,083.22 points against 178,200.02 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 711.271 million shares, compared to 785.361 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value declined to Rs25.874 billion from Rs33.140 billion.
Market capitalisation decreased to Rs19.833 trillion from Rs19.953 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 495 companies that traded in the ready market, 161 posted gains, 295 suffered losses, while 39 remained unchanged, reflecting an overall bearish trend across the bourse.
Pak Int. Bulk led the volume chart with 89.708 million shares, followed by Trust Brokerage with 86.054 million shares and TPL Properties with 67.239 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited advanced by Rs86.00 to close at Rs25,386.00, while Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited gained Rs52.70 to settle at Rs9,301.28.
On the losing side, Khyber Textile Mills Limited declined by Rs116.09 to close at Rs2,041.10, while Hoechst Pakistan Limited fell by Rs76.77 to Rs3,916.15.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 150.834 million shares with a traded value of Rs5.894 billion, compared with 186.577 million shares worth Rs9.851 billion in the previous session.
Of the 315 companies traded in the futures market, 55 advanced, 253 declined, and seven remained unchanged.
