PSX stays bearish, loses 1,703 more points

ISLAMABAD, Nov 5 (APP): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bearish trend on Wednesday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index lost 1,703.58 points, a negative change of 1.06 percent, closing at 159,578.19 points against 161,281.77 points on the previous day.

The total trading volume stood at 860.26 million shares compared to 899.41 million shares a day earlier, while the total traded value declined to Rs 34.84 billion from Rs 37.31 billion. The market capitalization fell from Rs 18.47 trillion to Rs 18.27 trillion.

Out of 481 companies that transacted shares in the ready market, 158 closed higher, 278 recorded losses, and 45 remained unchanged.

K-Electric Ltd led the volume chart with 100.02 million shares, followed by Hascol Petroleum Ltd with 66.46 million shares and WorldCall Telecom Ltd with 45.57 million shares.

The top gainer of the day was Unilever Pakistan Foods Ltd, which rose by Rs 446.71 to close at Rs 29,200.00, followed by Khyber Textile Mills Ltd, which increased by Rs 102.57 to settle at Rs 1,833.43.

On the other hand, Rafhan Maize Products Ltd suffered a loss of Rs 80.96 to close at Rs 9,608.95, while Pakistan Tobacco Company Ltd declined by Rs 50.33 to settle at Rs 1,540.01.

In the futures market, 186.60 million shares were traded compared to 234.46 million shares on the previous session, with K-Electric-Nov, Bank Makramah-Nov, and Sui Southern Gas-Nov being the top three by volume.

The top gainer in the futures segment was Millat Tractors-NovB, rising by Rs 19.38 to close at Rs 538.00, while the major loser was Sazgar Engineering Works-NovC, which fell by Rs 28.03 to close at Rs 1,802.51.
