ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP):The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 793.55 points, a negative change of 0.47 percent, closing at 166,553.28 points against 167,346.83 points on the last working day.
A total of 476 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 203 recorded gains, 232 sustained losses, and 41 remained unchanged.
The total trading volume was 1,568.82 million shares compared to 1,819.32 million shares the previous day, while the traded value decreased to Rs55.06 billion from Rs56.82 billion. The market capitalization declined to Rs19.21 trillion from Rs19.27 trillion.
K-Electric Ltd. led the volume chart with 241.02 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 163.54 million shares and Bank of Punjab with 118.82 million shares.
The top gainers were PIA Holding Company LimitedB, which increased by Rs1,338.35 to close at Rs25,998.80, and Khyber Textile Mills Limited, which gained Rs183.66 to close at Rs2,029.10.
Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited and Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited were among the major losers, declining by Rs200 and Rs143.01 to close at Rs29,700 and Rs9,462.84, respectively.
In the futures market, 315 companies participated, with 115 advancing, 196 declining, and four remaining unchanged.
K-Electric (OCT) led the futures volume with 52.29 million shares, followed by Bank of Punjab (OCTB) with 47.48 million shares and Telecard Limited (OCT) with 45.57 million shares.
